Benefits Of Green Energy

Most people know a little bit about green energy, but what are the real benefits to you and your business of using green energy?

Green Energy is Cheaper

The reality is that green energy is cheaper to produce than energy from fossil fuels. While you do have a one-time up front cost to add green technology to your building, the cost is signficantly reduced by government subsidies and tax treatments. Once paid, the rest of the energy is free.

Thousands of businesses are already saving money by creating their own power. While few are "off the power grid" completely, the power they produce can drastically lower their monthly energy expenses. Solar panels on the roof of an office building, for example, produces electricity all week long - and on the weekends when the building is closed! Yes, the utilities will buy that power back from you.

Cheap Renewable Energy Instead of Expensive Fossil Fuels

For centuries we have relied on fossil fuels to heat our buildings and for most of the energy we need in our daily lives. Gas, oil and coal are expensive, continue to pollute the environment and will eventually be consumed.

Companies can now harness solar and wind power easily, reducing (and someday eliminating) their need for fossil fuels, by cleanly capturing existing solar and wind energy and simply transforming it into electricity and/or heat energy. Once the system is purchased, the cost to produce power is minimal, with only small maintenance costs (if any) to make repairs or adjustments (if required).

Green Energy Will Always Be Available

This isn't the only chief benefit of green energy, but it is certainly one of important benefits. Why worry about how much longer our earth's natural supplies are going to last when we can start making the most of the renewable ones that will always be there?

By focusing on using solar energy, wind energy and other means of creating green energy, we can still power our businesses and lives, reducing our dependency on fossil fuels and extending the time period that fossil fuels will be available.

Green Energy Does Not Cause pollution

Air pollution is a leading cause of illness and threatens our health. Much of that pollution comes from fossil fuels burned every day, whether to produce electricity or heat, or to power our cars. By using green energy, we reduce the amount and impact of air pollution. By relying more and more on renewable energy, instead of depleting our resources of fossil fuels, the current levels of pollution will decrease over time, making the air far healthier than it is today.

In addition to air pollution, water pollution is a major issue. While you may or may not be concerned with "saving the fish" the reality is that as humans, we consume tremendous amounts of food harvested from the oceans. By polluting the water, we kill the plants and animals living in that environment. This directly impacts our own ability to responsibly harvest the oceans and will contribute to long term food problems for decades to come.

Using Green Energy Reduces Carbon Emmissions

Most people are aware that carbon dioxide - otherwise referred to as CO2 - is a greenhouse gas. It is one of the main contributors to global warming, and is chiefly caused by our continual use of fossil fuels. These carbon emmissions (and the amount of them you produce is called your "carbon footprint") need to be reduced significantly.

As we use more green energy in our lives, we will naturally reduce the amount of CO2 that goes into the atmosphere, producing both short-term and long-term results.
