Global warming has become a major concern in the scientific, governmental and business community. While there is a heated debate underway as to whether global warming is a direct result or indirect result of the use of fossil fuel- everyone agrees that current energy consumption practices has at least contributed to current environmental issues. Continued reliance on fossil fuels will continue to have a global impact unless clean energy alternatives are implemented.

"Green Business" is the buzz going around these days. Even higher priced organic foods are finding their way onto the supermarket shelves with more frequency than ever before.

Clean energy has become more viable as well allowing profit and public perception of businesses to rise. Many businesses, including the airline business are cleaning up their act and as a result are increasing their profit margin. For the average and small business person this might not seem like much of an option; but it is.

The use of clean energy is good business on a couple of levels. In the long term money spent on utilities for an industrial, commercial or even on a residential building finds its way back into the property owner's pockets. A short term benefit lies in public perception of green business practice; lots of consumers these days are giving preference to ecological minded businesses. And of course there is the actual act of being environmentally and ecologically responsible.

Of all the clean energy options available solar energy is the most practical and makes the largest and most immediate impact. Recent advances in solar energy collectors, installation practices and energy conversion technology has made solar energy a reliable and usable energy resource.

Through conversion of sunlight to electrical power and even as a heat source, utility bills will see a reduction immediately. Unlike investments of other types, an investment in a solar energy system begins the day "the switch it flipped".

Solar energy panels are relatively easy to install for the consumer as the process of installing a system, when done by professionals is fairly unobtrusive. Roof space is often used which from the aspect of utilizing space for profit is a smart business move, the roof wasn't doing much before, now it is making the property owner money. The electricity energy produced and distributed by solar panels is able to be metered; this means the owner can track how much electricity is being produced on a moment to moment basis. For commercial property owners, this means becoming a utility company unto one's self.

While this is definitely not a zero impact process (people will notice that some work is going on) a complete shutdown for days is not needed to begin the integration of solar power with traditional grid power. Working with a contractor to establish as close to a zero impact installation and taking their suggestions under advisement, is often the best course of action to pursue. They will be able to help you decide on what equipment will bets meet your needs and the best course to take to raise your bottom line.
